Plan about 30 minutes for the visit.

You will likely be out sooner, but that certainly depends on your questions and concerns. The annual gynecological exam at the Student Care Center is a thorough assessment of women's health.

Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment.

Getting ready for the appointment

Vaginal sexual activity

It is best to abstain from any vaginal penetrative sexual activity 48 hours before your appointment. This is to prevent any interference with the pap Pap smear and its lab results.

Douching

It is best to avoid any douching or inserting anything into the vaginal cavity 48 hours before your appointment.

Menstruation

Menstral blood can interfere with the interpretation of cells collected on a Pap smear. If you have any mentsral bleeding the day you are scheduled for a Pap smear, please call and reschedule.
