Students requiring vaccinations for travel must make an appointment, 4-6 weeks prior to travel, with a healthcare provider prior to receiving the proper vaccinations. Students should plan to receive travel vaccinations well in advance to their travel because most vaccines take time to become effective in your body and some vaccines must be given in a series over a period of days or sometimes weeks. The Travel and Immunization staff at the SCC can help you with vaccines, counseling, prescriptions, and adult immunizations. Note: Some students have found they had to cancel their trip because the vaccine requirements couldn’t be met.

Immunizations are not covered under the Student Health and Wellness Fee although there is a reduced price for vaccines required for University of Chicago sponsored travel.
